Mediation Guidelines
When common goals of this conference are thought to have been breached by any participant, the following action will be taken.
The participant who questioned the post will be asked to clarify for the community how the post violates the conference's goals. Additionally, the participant in question will be asked to clarify or rethink his/her comments. If the situation warrents, the conference's co-hosts may also attempt to resolve the matter by hiding "offensive" posts.
If this step fails to satisfy fellow participants, as a last resort, the matter will be taken to mediation. Mediation will occur in a separate topic set up within the conference. The mediation will involve the conference hosts(s), the poster in question, the participant who raised the issue, and any interested conference members.
If a violation of the guidelines has occurred, as to be determined by the conference hosts, and no common ground can be found, the conference hosts will decide what action should be taken, up to and including expulsion of the person violating the guidelines (who may or may not be the poster in question), and his/her userid will be removed from those who have access to the conference. Any expulsions will be done as a last resort. If no violation of the guidelines is found, as determined by the conference hosts, the hosts will render a final decision and halt the Meta discussion. Any conference participant may appeal hosts' decisions to the Cafe Coordinator.
