Internship Opportunities at Utne Reader

Utne Reader is the digest of the alternative press, a bimonthly magazine that culls from its library of 1,300 periodical publications. Our internships offer special insight into the vibrant world of independent publishing, and Utne Reader interns have opportunities to work with polished writers, editors, and media professionals as they gain experience producing a national magazine and its website.

Because Utne Reader is a collaborative project, the different internship programs often overlap. All interns participate in editorial planning meetings, for example, and have opportunities to write for the website. In all programs, we expect hard work, enthusiasm, and great ideas.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • All internships are on site at our Minneapolis office.
  • Internships are unpaid, save a $75/month transportation stipend.
  • Though application deadlines are given below for various openings, do not wait to apply. Positions may be filled at any time.

TO APPLY: Mail materials to the appropriate coordinator at Utne Reader, 12 North 12th Street, Suite 400, Minneapolis, MN 55403.
