TALKING ABOUT KATRINA
Like the nation, the Cafe is transfixed by the hurricane that pummeled the Gulf Coast and drowned New Orleans. Several Cafe members live in the disaster zone. And discussions have popped up all over about Cafe members' whereabouts, the federal response, the future of New Orleans, and how best to help the refugees.

WORKMONEY: Why do you do what you do?
That was the question an anonymous young phone caller put to Tony Deifell late one night in 1998. In a back- page profile in the May/June issue of Utne magazine, the 36 year-old photographer/ activist/consultant/non-profit manager recalls how that question changed his life, leading him to pose the same question to others and chronicle their answers with photography online at www.wdydwyd.com.

We thought it would be fun and enlightening to pose that question to members of Cafe Utne, too. So how about it? Why do you do what you do?
